New York Beauties

Quite a few more of the New York Beauty blocks were made over the past few weeks. Yesterday I put them all up on the design wall. With two more blocks, this would finish at 36″ x 42″.

Then just the Tiffany Lamp ones.

And then the Monet blocks.

I’m leaning towards making them separate quilts, although I do rather like the look of them all together.  These will definitely be wall hangings rather than lap or bed-size quilts. If I add no more blocks, the Monet one would finish at 24″ while the Tiffany Lamp one would finish at 24″ x 36″.

These won’t be the end of the NYB blocks for me. I have loads more printed and ready to stitch. There’s something immensely satisfying about putting these blocks together – lots of curved piecing and lovely spiky points.

Baxter and one of his pals playing in the snow — even though we have no snow to speak of and the weather is relatively quite mild for early January.

As fast as I put toys in the toy basket, he’s right there getting them back out.

  1. It is hard to pick a favorite out of all those blocks! Way too nice!
I love Baxter’s Maple Leaf hat and Cappy’s wearing one, too! How cute!
Baxter is trying to spread out his toys so he can keep track of them.

  3. Wow I love the impact of all those blocks together, the contrast gives more pop to the amazing curves and spikes, the colors are amazing. Batiks are a favorite of mine because they have so many moods and voices. That sounds weird, but they do kind of speak. 🙂
